Description

Abbey Park, located on High Street in Melrose, is a classical villa built around 1820 with later additions. The building is two stories high and has three bays, constructed of coursed squared rubble with polished ashlar dressings.

The south front features a central bay that is advanced in a segmental bow, with the entrance located at the ground level. This entrance includes a broad Tuscan pilastered doorpiece, with a door flanked by side-lights and an armorial panel above. The ground floor and the center of the first floor have tripartite windows, which are now corniced with a reeded blocking course. The roof is piended and slated.

Significant additions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries have been made to the sides and rear of the building, which incorporate the original office court.
