Description
St Winnock's Church in Lochwinnoch dates back to 1729, as indicated on the lintel. It features a southwest gable and is a single bay fragment of a former church, likely reduced in size after the completion of a new church in 1808. The structure is built of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings.
The original door is located in the gable and is flanked by blocked small window openings. Above, there are paired round-headed blocked windows under a relieving arch. At the apex, there is a clock topped with a corbelled birdcage bellcote and a ball-finialed bell-cast roof. The gable has a crow-stepped design, and there is an apex stack on the northeast gable, with a slate roof.
The church is enclosed by a cemetery wall that features ball-finialed, corniced square gatepiers and cast-iron gates with arrow-head rails.
