Moredun, Stanely Road, Paisley

Moredun is a Jacobean-style house designed by architect Wm Leiper in 1890. It is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed from snecked stugged ashlar with polished dressings. The house features a variety of windows, including some sash windows, but mostly mullioned and transomed windows, with a larger window showcasing leaded panes. The front of the house is irregularly stepped, with advanced end bays. The right bay has a gabled roof with a round-headed broken pediment, while the left bay features a piended roof with a pedimented dormer that rises through the eaves. There is a single-storey pilastered porch with tall double stair windows above and a bipartite wallhead dormer.

The garden front consists of four bays, with two bays set back to the right. On the left, a corner turret has a facetted attic storey topped with a conical slated roof, although the top is missing. The gabled left bay is boldly corbelled over the ground floor, while the right bay is canted and features a conical slate roof and a wallhead dormer. A conservatory occupies the re-entrant angle of the building.

The roofs are covered with green slate and are complemented by corniced ashlar stacks. There is a variety of dormers, both raised through the eaves and wallhead, all of which are either pedimented or gabletted.

Inside, there are some fine features in the hall and staircase, as well as in the adjacent "St Mary Room," which includes panelling and painted panels above the fireplace in the hall.
