Description

T G Abercrombie, architect 1901-2. Arts and Crafts.

Irregular L-plan house, 3-storey north and centre towers

with 2-storey north link and east wings. Harled with ashlar

dressings. Porch splayed to re-entrant angle with Ionic

columns and segmental open pediment. Architraved doorpiece

and round arched pend to east elevation of north tower.

Windows mainly mullioned and transomed except to west

elevation where mainly sashes. 2-storey canted windows with

battlemented parapets to south elevation and east elevation

of north wing. Single storey projecting windows to south

elevation and to north elevation of east wing to 1st and

2nd floors at south west corner and to 1st floor of north

corner of east wing, both with battlemented parapets. Some

upper floor windows have gablets raised through eaves.

Green slate roofs including towers with straight skews and

harled stacks. Interior altered when flatted but much

decorative work survives - panelling, chimney pieces,

coffered ceiling etc.
