Description

Crosbie is an Arts and Crafts style house designed by architect T G Abercrombie between 1901 and 1902. It features an irregular L-plan layout with three-storey north and central towers, along with a two-storey north link and east wings. The exterior is harled with ashlar dressings. The porch is splayed to the re-entrant angle and supported by Ionic columns, topped with a segmental open pediment. The north tower has an architraved doorpiece and a round arched pend on its east elevation. Most windows are mullioned and transomed, except for the west elevation, which mainly features sash windows. The south elevation and the east elevation of the north wing have two-storey canted windows with battlemented parapets. There are also single-storey projecting windows on the south elevation and the north elevation of the east wing at the first and second floors, both adorned with battlemented parapets. Some upper floor windows have gablets that rise through the eaves. The roofs, including those of the towers, are covered with green slate and feature straight skews and harled stacks. The interior has been altered due to conversion into flats, but much decorative work remains, including panelling, chimney pieces, and a coffered ceiling.
