Description

The Snabs is a two-storey farmhouse built in 1838, designed in an L-plan with gabled roofs. It features red rubble sandstone construction with grey stugged and margined ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The windows are mostly timber casement types, with an 8-pane sash and case window on the ground floor of the south elevation, and timber mullions. The attic has gabled dormerheads, deep bracketed eaves, finialled gables, and brick ridge stacks.

On the south elevation, there is a semi-glazed door set back in a slightly advanced narrow gabled bay at the center, with a dormer-headed window above. To the left, there is a window on the ground floor and a narrow dormer-headed window above. To the right, a canted window with a facetted roof is present, along with a window above in a broad gabled dormerhead.

The west elevation features the main gable to the right with a bipartite window on both the ground and first floors. To the left, there is a bay with a 12-pane window on the ground floor and a dormer-headed window above.

The east gable is blank. The north elevation has an advanced gable to the right with a window in the attic. To the left, there is a low pentice-roofed bay that returns at the rear of the main house, which includes a door and two windows, along with a half-piended dormer.

Inside, some original chimneypieces, doors, and shutters remain, along with a boarded dado in the bathroom on the first floor.
