Description
The Renaissance-style gateway at HMP Castle Huntly dates to the late 17th century and was moved to its current location in 1783. It is constructed of ashlar and features two large square plan corniced gatepiers with engaged columns, topped by elongated pyramidal caps set at an angle. To the right and left, there are undulating screen walls that include round-arched pedestrian openings, which end in smaller square plan piers also topped with pyramidal caps.
