Description

Huntly Cottage, located on Castle Road in Longforgan, is an earlier 19th-century single-storey cottage with a cross-plan layout. It features a single-storey and attic harled addition built in 1992 that matches the original style at the southeast angle. The cottage is constructed of pink rubble with ashlar dressings on the north side, while the south and west sides are harled, topped with a grey slate roof. The windows are sash and case with plate glass, featuring 4- and 12-pane glazing, and the eaves are deep with brackets, complemented by coped ridge stacks.

On the northeast elevation, there is an advanced gable at the center with a window on the ground floor and a smaller window in the roof space. The entrance door is located on the right return elevation, accompanied by a multi-pane glazed porch. Recessed bays on the left and right also contain windows.

The west gable has a lower, narrower half-piended roof addition that includes a window, door, and another window on the right return. The south elevation features an advanced gable at the center with a bipartite window, a window in a recessed bay to the left, and the addition to the right. The east elevation shows the original gable on the right, with the addition advanced to the left.

Inside, there are two chimneypieces from around 1930, attributed to the Justice of Dundee.
