Description
Pressmennan Farmhouse is a two-storey gabled farmhouse built around 1870. It features a first floor that breaks the eaves and is constructed from roughly squared red sandstone rubble with grey ashlar dressings, base, and band courses. The windows have chamfered reveals and stone mullions.
On the northeast elevation, the farmhouse has an asymmetrical four-bay design. There is a bipartite stair window located off-centre to the right, under the eaves, with a small window at ground level. To the left, there is a narrow gabled bay with windows on each floor, flanked by a wider and taller gabled bay that includes a porch on the right and two varied first-floor windows. The gabled timber porch has decorative details, a geometric tiled floor, and a two-leaf door with decorative fittings. The outer bay to the right is also gabled, featuring bipartite windows at both ground and first floor levels.
The west elevation has two gabled service buildings projecting at ground level, which are adjoined to the west. The service court is enclosed by ashlar coped walls to the west.
On the east elevation, there is a gabled bay to the left with bipartite windows at ground level and first-floor windows, the latter of which breaks the eaves in a gabled dormer head. The sash and case windows have a six-pane glazing pattern, and there are timber eaves brackets and plain barge boards. The grey ashlar stacks have moulded coping.
The terrace walls are made of red rubble with grey ashlar coping, situated on falling ground to the south and east. The gatepiers consist of a pair of red sandstone ashlar drum piers topped with hemispherical caps.
