Description
The Doocot at Moncrieffe House, built in 1729, is a notable example of a large double chamber crowstepped lectern dovecote. It features low side entrances, a stepped alighting ledge, and the remaining walls are complete with nesting boxes from ground level. The overall dimensions are approximately 9 by 5 meters. The west wall has collapsed and the structure is roofless. The east wall is constructed of pink sandstone boulder rubble with ashlar quoin strips below the alighting ledge, while the upper part consists of squared and snecked rubble with ashlar quoins. The north wall is made of boulder rubble. There is a moulded skewputt on the southeast and a moulded stone plinth on the northeast.
