Description

This is a farmhouse with a lodge and gatepiers, dated 1895. The farmhouse is a 2-storey L-plan structure with an additional single-storey service wing to the north, forming a J-plan. It is constructed of red engineering brick with red rendered and lined dressings, featuring single and linked octagonal and corniced red ashlar stacks. The roof is plain red tile with decorative terracotta ridge tiles and is piended at the rear. The main elevations have a base course, and the windows are single and bipartite plate glass sash and case types with chamfered cills and lintels. The eaves are bracketted, and the bargeboards are moulded.

On the west elevation, there is a 2-storey, flat-roofed entrance porch with a corniced and crenellated parapet that slightly advances to the left of the main gable on the right. It features a boarded door with sidelights, a cornice, and a bipartite window on the first floor. There is a small single-storey gabled addition to the left return, with a bipartite window on the first floor. The main gable to the right has a pilastered panel at the roofspace and two windows on both the ground and first floors. A small service court is recessed at the far left, containing a door and various windows, along with a gabled dormerhead.

The south elevation is symmetrical with three bays. The central window is set in a raised panel, wider and corbelled to the first floor, with a window above that terminates in a gable breaking through the eaves, featuring a heraldic panel and ridge stack. There are bipartite windows on the ground floor to the left and right, and single windows above with gablets breaking through the eaves.

The east elevation has a gable on the left and a pilastered and flue panel at the centre, similar to the west elevation. It has a window on the ground and first floors to the left, with a bay on the right that includes single and bipartite windows on the ground floor, and a window with a cat-slide roof on the first floor. A single-storey wing is advanced at the far right, featuring two windows.

The north elevation consists of a single-storey service wing with a swept roof and a shouldered stack rising through the piended roof above.

Inside, there is a pitch pine staircase with barley sugar balusters, some original chimneypieces, and moulded and decorative cornices.

The lodge is a plain, single-storey L-plan structure with two small congruous additions. It is made of rubble with stugged ashlar dressings and has a slate roof with a brick stack. The windows are 4- and 6-pane sash and case types, and there are two boarded doors.

The gatepiers consist of two rendered gabletted structures with no boundary walls.
