Description

This is a traditional farmhouse located in Wester Dalmeny, dated 1830. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a symmetrical T plan, featuring a later single-storey wing added to the east and a rear wing that was extended in 1995. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone ashlar, with coursed squared rubble on the sides and squared and snecked rubble at the rear. It has a base course and projecting cills.

On the southeast elevation, there is a central doorway with a stone canopy above, leading to a panelled timber door and a margin-paned fanlight. Above the door, there is a single window on the first floor. The outer left and right bays each have a single window on both floors. The single-storey, two-bay, piend-roofed wing on the outer right features two bipartite windows.

The northeast elevation has an advanced central two-storey wing with rendered additions from 1995 on the north and east sides, showing an irregular arrangement of windows. There is a large timber and glass conservatory attached to the west of this wing. A lean-to structure is connected to the main house on the outer left, with a single window above on the first floor. There is also a single-storey wing adjoining on the outer left.

On the east elevation, the advanced single-storey wing has a single window flanking to the left, and a date stone is set in the gablehead.

The west elevation features an advanced gable on the right with a window on each floor to the left. There are two recessed bays in the centre and left, along with a later conservatory addition and a modern single-bay extension on the outer left.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The farmhouse has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with coped gablehead stacks, overhanging skews, and cast iron rainwater goods.

Additionally, there is a gate, gatepiers, and boundary walls featuring chamfered angles and pyramidal caps on the gatepiers at the quadrant entrance. The decorative timber gate has wrought iron hinges, and the rubble boundary walls have rounded coping.
