Description
11 Main Street in Dalmeny is a 19th-century single-storey, 6-bay cottage that was originally two terraced 3-bay cottages. The building features coursed rubble with droved ashlar dressings, and there is a harled addition at the rear. Long and short quoins are present.
The north elevation, which is the principal front, includes the former 3-bay cottage on the right, featuring a central glazed door flanked by windows. To the left is the former 3-bay smithy, which has windows in the bays to the right and a later French window on the outer left.
On the west elevation, there is a small window to the right and an infilled window centered in the gable. A modern harled piended addition is located on the outer right, which includes a new door.
The south elevation was not visible in 1997, and the east elevation is obscured by the adjoining terrace. The cottage predominantly has 6-pane timber sash and case windows. The right side of the cottage has graded grey slates, while the left side features pantiles. Additional details include cast-iron rainwater goods, harled and ashlar ridge stacks with circular cans, and skews.
