Description
10 Main Street in Dalmeny is a mid-19th century single-storey cottage that features a symmetrical three-bay design, along with a two-bay workshop to the east. The building is constructed from stugged and snecked sandstone, accented with droved sandstone ashlar dressings and chamfered margins, and includes an eaves course.
The north elevation, which is the principal facade, has a central four-panel timber door topped by a two-pane fanlight, flanked by windows. The west elevation is obscured by an adjoining terrace. The south elevation was not visible as of 1997.
The workshop, also from the 19th century, is a single-storey structure that has undergone later alterations. It is built from rubble with droved dressings and chamfered margins. The entrance elevation has a modern door on the right and an enlarged window on the left. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has a plain skew on the west gable, with a single window centered in the east gable. There are later additions at the rear.
The cottage features 10-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof with a terracotta ridge, and cast-iron rainwater goods. The gablehead stacks are made of droved ashlar and are coped, with circular cans, and the building has plain skews.
