Description
The West Gate and Quadrant Wall at Errol Park were likely designed by Alexander Johnston between 1875 and 1877. The structure features two sets of square-section, fielded, ashlar gatepiers that have a carved frieze. The inner pair of gatepiers, which flank the carriage entrance, are topped with moulded finials and support a pair of decorative ironwork gates. There are also outer pedestrian gates that match the design of the inner gates, along with pyramidal-coped piers. The quadrants are low and saddleback-coped, incorporating inset railings and two additional sets of pyramidal-coped ashlar piers.
