Description
Murie Cemetery in Errol, established around 1945, is a small cemetery that features both World War II and civilian memorials.
The war graves consist of eight relief-carved, standard segmental-headed stones commemorating individuals such as Frantisek Drahovzal of the Czech Army, Sub-Lieutenants B. H. Prance, A. A. S. Roberton, J. R. Hobday, and W. V. Stark from various naval services, as well as Sergeant C. Muirhead and Lieutenant J. H. S. Vernon from the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, respectively, and Sergeant W. E. Woodington from the Royal Canadian Air Force.
In addition to the war graves, there are civilian memorials that include a variety of simple carved headstones, notably a memorial for Rev. John Llewellyn Morgan, MA PhD, who served as the Minister of the Parish of Errol from 1939 to 1946.
The cemetery is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls that feature raised sections at the upper walls. Tall, finial-topped, square-section ashlar gatepiers flank a decorative two-leaf ironwork gate.
