Description

Probably Alexander Johnston, 1875-77. Single storey, 3-bay, classical lodge house. Narrow stugged coursed ashlar with incised angle pilasters. Base, eaves and blocking courses. Segmental-headed door; keystoned, architraved openings. Bracketted cills and stone mullions.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: centre bay with semicircular steps to canted doorpiece in re-entrant angle, deep-set part-glazed timber door with segmental plate glass fanlight, canted angles each with narrow light and relief-carved shield, that to left with upraised arm holding sword, that to left with tree. Bipartite window in bay to right and shallow rectangular-plan projecting bipartite to left.

NE (DRIVE) ENTRANCE: canted tripartite window to broad left bay and single set-back window to right.

SW ENTRANCE: slightly projecting full-height chimney breast to centre with windows in flanking bays; lower set-back bay with modern window to outer left.

NW ELEVATION: later lean-to bay with modern glazing to centre.

Horizontal 3-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows; leaded, coloured glass to narrow lights at SE. Grey slates. Coped and shouldered ashlar stack. Some square-section cast-iron downpipes with decorative fixings.

KENNELS: rectangular-plan, slated, rubble dog kennels with 3 pyramidal ridge ventilators.
