Description
The quadrant walls and gatepiers at East Lodge, Swinton House, date from the earlier to mid 19th century. They feature low, coped tooled sandstone walls that flank the eastern entrance, complemented by decorative iron railings. The outer piers are square-plan and made of coursed ashlar, showcasing strapwork detailing on their ball finials. The inner piers, which are also square-plan and stop-chamfered, were originally paired and include strapwork detailing on their ball finials as well. The decorative iron gates that once adorned the entrance are currently missing.
