Description
26 Brown Street in Blairgowrie is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house. It features coursed, squared rubble with Aberdeen bond snecking and rubble with stone cills, along with narrow quoin strips and a base course.
The northeast, or principal elevation, is symmetrical. The central bay on the ground floor has a panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight above it, while there are windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration close to the eaves on the first floor. There are garages adjoining the house on both the right and left sides.
The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates. Coped brick stacks with cans are present.
Inside, the house retains some good interior details, including timber fire surrounds, boarded timber walls in the kitchen, and a turnpike stair with decorative cast-iron balusters.
