Description

Circa 1845. 2-storey, 3-bay, L-plan house in irregular terrace to S, with corniced porch and segmentally-arched doorway. Narrow bands of squared rubble with ashlar dressings and quoin strips; harl to rear. Raised margins.

SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: advanced gable to right of centre with window to each floor, porch with modern panelled timber door, plate glass fanlight, cornice and blocking course in re-entrant angle to left, and further window to each floor at left.

NE (JAMES STREET) ELEVATION: blank elevation with broad gable to right.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: variety of elements to asymmetrically-fenestrated elevation including projecting piend-roofed stair tower at right, lean-to bay in re-entrant angle to left and stair window to 1st floor centre.

Replica 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case double-glazed windows; margined stair window. Grey slates. Coped ashlar and harled stacks with polygonal cans. Narrow plain bargeboarding.

BOUNDARY WALLS, RAILING AND GATE: low saddleback-coped boundary wall with inset decorative cast-iron railings and gate to SE; high semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls to NE.
