Summerhouse, Bowerswell, Bowerswell Road, Perth

The summerhouse at Bowerswell, located on Bowerswell Road in Perth, dates from the earlier to mid-19th century, while the adjoining greenhouse was added in the early 20th century. This single-storey structure features a summerhouse made of handmade red brick with brick dressings, and a greenhouse with a yellow brick base and timber glazing bars.

The summerhouse is positioned next to a rubble boundary wall and has its entrance on the southwest side. It features a central pointed-arched doorway with a two-leaf panelled timber door that has glazed upper panels and a fanlight above. There are narrow pointed-arched timber windows on either side of the doorway. The summerhouse has timber glazing and a cruciform plan slate roof with lead ridges.

Inside, the summerhouse has boarded timber walls below the dado, with the rest of the walls plastered. It includes decoratively panelled timber doors, a cast-iron fireplace with a timber surround, and a groin-vaulted ceiling with decoratively moulded ribs and a foliate rose at the apex.

The greenhouse, which is attached to the southeast of the summerhouse, has a brick base course and glazed walls featuring a round-arched glazing pattern with blue glass spandrels, topped by a pointed-arched roof. The interior of the greenhouse has terracotta tiles on the floor.

The boundary wall surrounding the property is a tall rubble structure with flat coping.
