Description
Late 18th century. 2 chambered, near-U-plan walled garden with tall holly hedge to S; early 19th century summerhouse. Random rubble with rubble coping, tooled long and short dressings to gateways.
N CHAMBER: timber lean-to glasshouses to NE corner, much glass missing but workings still in place; flanked to right by broad gateway with modern boarded timber gate; boarded-up gateway to NW. Vertically boarded timber potting shed to centre of SE wall. Small brick boiler house to outer wall at NE.
S CHAMBER: dividing wall supported by modern concrete buttresses to E; modern timber lean-to to NE corner, gateway under canopy to right with panelled timber door; gateway to S of E wall; gateway with panelled timber door to N of W wall. Summerhouse (see below) to centre of N wall, flanked to right by boarded timber gate and to outer right by boarded gateway with modern concrete gatepiers; 2 boarded-up gateways flanking to left.
SUMMERHOUSE: random sandstone rubble with lightly droved dressings. Pointed-arched openings; overhanging eaves. Boarded timber door to centre, flanked to left and right by paired windows, some glass missing. Right and left returns blank. Red pantiled roof, missing to E. Boarded timber-lined interior. Low rubble enclosing wall with near-flat coping.
