Description
The summer house, garden wall, and gateways date from the mid to late 18th century, with some 19th-century alterations. The structure features rusticated ashlar gate piers and a rubble wall topped with saddle-back coping, although one wall has been rebuilt in brick. The summer house itself is made of brick with V-jointed quoins on a rusticated ashlar basement, all covered by a pyramidal graduated greenslate roof. The high wall includes internal bee-boles. The principal gateway, marked by square piers, is located directly opposite the summer house, while a side gateway has a plain opening. The summer house has blocked segmental arches on each face at ground level, and there are external side steps leading to a 20th-century door framed by an alternate-block surround. Sash windows are set within stone surrounds. This structure is listed for its group value with Moorland Close.
