Registrar's Office, 20 Victoria Street, Stromness

The Registrar's Office on 20 Victoria Street in Stromness is an early 20th-century single-storey building designed as a social club. It has a rectangular plan with five bays and features a slightly advanced gabled bay at the center. The exterior is painted cement-rendered and lined, with moulded architraves around the openings and corbelled mouldings beneath the skews at the angles.

On the north elevation, there is a window in the central bay, a clock on the gable, and a truncated finial at the gablehead above. Each bay on either side of the center has a boarded door with stone steps leading up to it, and there is a window in each outer bay to the left and right.

The east elevation features a blank gabled wall with a gablehead stack above. The west elevation has a single bay gabled wall with a window set to the left and a gablehead stack above.

The windows are timber-framed with top-hung upper lights. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has a decorative pierced red clay ridge. The gablehead stacks are coped and cement-rendered, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not fully seen in 1997.
