Description
145-149 High Street in Irvine is an early 19th-century, three-storey, three-bay tenement building that features shops on the ground floor. The structure is made of squared whinstone rubble with a rendered ashlar front. It has a base course, a moulded string course above the shop fascia, an eaves course, a cornice, and pilaster quoins. The windows are architraved, with a tenement door located to the outer left, which has a blocked fanlight. Each shop has a door and square windows.
The first floor has corniced windows with panelled aprons, while the second floor features shorter windows. There are two canted dormers that are slate-hung and have piend roofs. A return gable is visible to the left, above a lower neighbouring building, and it includes a window on the left side.
The second floor has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the dormers have plate glass and 2-pane windows, with modern glazing present on the first floor. The building has ashlar coped skews, grey slates, and a broad ashlar gablehead stack.
