Description
52-54 Harbour Street in Irvine is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey house with a rectangular plan that includes a shop on the ground floor. The building is constructed of painted, coursed sandstone with moulded ashlar margins.
On the northwest elevation, the ground floor bay on the right has been converted into shop premises, featuring a pilastered and corniced 19th-century shop front, with a window above. The bay on the left has windows at both the ground and first floors.
The northeast elevation shows the gable end, while the southwest elevation is attached to No 56. The building has a 4-pane timber sash and case window, a large plate glass window for the shop front, a grey/green slate roof, a rendered gablehead stack on the northeast, and a brick stack on the southwest.
The interior has been significantly altered to accommodate the shop.
