Eglinton House, 22 Eglinton Street, Irvine

Eglinton House, located at 22 Eglinton Street in Irvine, is a classical office building dating from the later to late 19th century, likely incorporating some earlier materials. The structure is two stories high and has three bays. It is constructed of red sandstone, with squared and snecked stone on the sides and rear, while the front features ashlar stonework.

The building has a base course, a band, and a first-floor cill course, along with a cornice and a blocking course. The central entrance features a columned and corniced doorpiece with panelled dies, a deep-set door, and a fanlight above. There is a balustrade above this entrance, which has flanking dies acting as an apron to the architraved first-floor window. The outer bays have slightly advanced, full-height tripartite window panels with panelled aprons on the first floor. Additionally, there is a side door in the ashlar wall to the outer right.

At the rear, there is a gabled two-storey projection at the center. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates and includes modern Velux lights, while the gablehead stacks are made of ashlar stone.
