Winton Primary School, Anderson Terrace, Ardrossan

Winton Primary School, built in 1899, is a single-storey U-plan school featuring Arts and Crafts details. The south elevation is symmetrical with five bays and has an entrance on the west side. The building is constructed from snecked and stugged ashlar. The central bay projects slightly and has a shaped gable with a decorative date panel, although the turret behind it is now gone. Each of the flanking bays contains a bipartite window with a wallhead gable and a single light. The wide projecting end bays also have shaped gables topped with ball finials. The entrance on the west side features a shallow segmental pedimented gable above it. The windows on the west are asymmetrically placed, and there is a projecting end gable with two bipartite windows. The roof is covered with slate.
