103 Broughton Street, Edinburgh

This building, located at 103 Broughton Street in Edinburgh, dates back to 1869 and is a two-storey, four-bay school building. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with rubble on the northern elevation. The principal elevation features a gable end with a recessed entrance bay to the right, a string course between the floors, and segmental-arched windows on the first floor, all with chamfered lintels.

On the eastern (principal) elevation, there is a gabled porch to the right that has a segmental-arched doorway, and above it, a cusped roundel window on the first floor. The remaining advanced bays have windows at both the ground and first floors, and there is a carved stone armorial plaque in a square segmental frame at the center above.

The northern (side) elevation is a blank wall that features a broad-shouldered wallhead stack. The building has timber sash and case windows with four-pane glazing, graded grey slates on the roof, and coped skews with gablet skewputts. The northern elevation has wallhead stacks with terracotta cans, as well as a stack on the principal gablehead.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The site is enclosed by low coped ashlar boundary walls.
