Description
57 Kirkgate in Irvine is a terraced house from the later 18th century, with alterations made in the mid to later 19th century. It is two stories high and has three bays, constructed from rubble stone with ashlar dressings.
The northwest elevation, which is the main front, is symmetrical. It features a central entrance door with a plain surround and rectangular fanlights above, along with a small window on the first floor. The flanking bays have windows with plain margins, and the first-floor windows break the eaves in dormerhead gables.
The windows are timber sash and case, with 12 panes in the outer windows and 8 panes in the central window. The roof is covered with dark grey slates and has coped skews and skewputts on the gablets, with ridge stacks located at the east and west ends.
