Description
40-42 Harbour Street is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey house with a three-bay rectangular plan. The front is finished in painted ashlar, while the sides are harled with moulded ashlar margins.
On the northwest (principal) elevation, there is a central doorpiece with pilasters and a cornice, with symmetrical flanking bays that feature windows on both the ground and first floors.
The northeast elevation has a gable end with windows at the ground and first floors, which have plain margins. The southwest elevation is a blank gable end.
The building has modern replacement windows and a front door, along with a skylight on the north side. The roof is covered in grey/brown slate, with stone skew stones and ashlar gablehead stacks. The interior was not seen in 1997.
