Old Constabulary, 8 Harbour Street, Ardrossan

The Old Constabulary, located at 8 Harbour Street in Ardrossan, was built in 1889 and features Scottish Baronial detailing. This two-storey building has four bays and is constructed from snecked and stugged red sandstone, accented with chamfered, polished ashlar margins. The two central bays are recessed and each floor has two windows, with hoodmoulds over the ground floor windows raised above a title panel.

The building is topped with a battlemented parapet, and the end bays have crowstepped gables. The left end bay is corbelled above ground, while the right features a door set in rope moulded reveals topped with a battlemented head. The gable head projects on stepped corbels, and similar architectural details are present on the south elevation, where the end stacks are also corbelled. The roof is piended and covered with slate.
