Description
80 High Street in Elgin is a classical building dating from around 1840 to 1850. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and features five bays. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone, with the ground floor channelled and polished ashlar used for the dressings. There are two three-bay shop fronts and a central flat-arched entrance leading to a pend. The first and second floor windows are adorned with moulded architraves, with the first-floor windows featuring alternating segmental and triangular friezes, a cornice, and a low parapet. The building has two canted dormers and two flat-roofed dormers, all with four-pane glazing. It is topped with a slate roof and has corniced stacks at the ends and ridge. There are wings at the rear that are close to the main structure.
