Description

The Post Office at 130-132 Mid Street in Keith is a building likely designed by Duncan MacMillan and dated 1911. It is a two-storey structure with an attic and features a five-bay east-facing street frontage. The exterior is constructed of bullfaced rubble with polished ashlar dressings. There are segmented-headed entrances located in the outer bays, which are framed by shallow pilastered and crenellated porches, with the left porch dated and the right one featuring the initials "GR."

The ground floor has bipartite windows, while the first floor has a central window arrangement that is linked by a deep ashlar fascia, which has "POST OFFICE" carved into it. The building is topped with three wallhead dormers set within slender gablets, with the central dormer being larger and flanked by wallhead windows that have segmental-headed lintels and multi-pane glazing in the upper sashes.

Additional decorative elements include some cable moulded detailing, coped end stacks, and slate roofs adorned with a decorative red tile ridge. The building also has wings at the rear.
