Description
Swiss Cottage at Gordon Castle is a mid-19th century, two-storey timber cottage designed in an Alpine style. It features a wide single bay and is constructed with red-painted weatherboarding. The entrance is located at the rear, while the northeast gable projects and is supported by square wooden posts that extend through the jettied gable front. A flat balustered balcony, which is supported by brackets, runs along the first-floor long elevations and the southwest gable. Each elevation has single two-light multi-pane glazed windows with wooden shutters, positioned on either the ground or first floor. The cottage has a red tiled roof with a ridge and deep eaves that are supported by shaped wooden brackets. A tooled ashlar coped ridge stack is present, and the return gables are decorated with carved detailing, primarily featuring geometric forms and billet-moulding.
