Description
The fountain at Gordon Castle was likely put together in the 19th century using various carved panels and fragments from the 16th and 17th centuries, with one piece dated 1594. It features a square plinth with a moulded base and cornice, which supports a narrower square stem adorned with masks carved on each face. Above this is a shallow circular basin equipped with jets. The fountain is located in the center of a pool that is surrounded by a low stone retaining wall. The facets of the plinth are intricately carved with the date, monograms, an earl's coronet, and encircling wreaths.
