Description
Whitegate Lodge at Gordon Castle dates from around 1850 and is an asymmetrical, gabled, L-plan, two-storey gate lodge that was formerly two dwellings. It is constructed of mixed random rubble with tooled and polished sandstone dressings. The irregular south front faces the road and features a gabled porch on the right (east) and a tripartite window to the left (west). There is a similar tripartite window on the ground floor of the west gable elevation, which faces the driveway. All ground floor windows have hoodmoulds and consist of one, two, or three lights, while the first floor has narrow single and two-light windows with multi-pane glazing. The building has a coped ridge stack and slate roofs with projecting joisted eaves. There is also an L-plan outbuilding, which is single storey and built in the same style and materials as the gate lodge.
