East Lodge, Gordon Castle

East Lodge at Gordon Castle is a two-storey octagonal gate lodge, likely designed by Archibald Simpson between 1826 and 1830. It features a stair projection at the rear and a single-storey projecting wing at the northwest. The building is constructed entirely of finely tooled ashlar stone.

At the south entrance, there is a boldly projecting pedimented porch leading to a round-headed entrance, which has later been fitted with double-leaf panelled doors. The northeast side, facing the driveway, includes a projecting single-storey bay with an eaves band and a shallow gabled roof. The ground floor has long corniced windows, while the first floor has smaller windows with lying-pane glazing, and there are blind windows in the rear wing.

The rear wallhead stack has been renewed in brick, and the lodge is topped with shallow piended slate roofs that feature deep bracketed eaves. Additionally, a rubble wall screens the garden from the road to the west of the house.
