Gordon Arms Hotel, 78-80 High Street, Fochabers

The Gordon Arms Hotel, located at 78-80 High Street in Fochabers, dates from around 1800 and has had subsequent additions and alterations. This two-storey building has an L-shaped layout that faces High Street and West Street, with a single-storey and loft range made of rubble at the back, facing Gordon Street. The main building features colour-washed harl with contrasting painted ashlar margins. The main entrance is highlighted by a squat corniced painted ashlar doorpiece with reeded pilasters. The building has regular fenestration, with five altered bays on the east side, including a tripartite window on the first floor. There are an additional six bays on West Street, which include a single ground floor entrance and principal fenestration on the first floor. The windows have four-pane glazing. The building is topped with margined coped end and ridge stacks and has slate roofs.
