Description
The Bank of Scotland, located at 79 High Street in Fochabers, was likely designed by William Henderson around 1860. This two-storey, three-bay bank features a front made of tooled ashlar, with harled sides and polished ashlar dressings. The central entrance has a round-headed keystoned doorpiece and a radial fanlight above it. The windows on either side of the door have moulded surrounds and aprons, with four-pane glazing.
At the ground floor, there are angle pilasters, while the first floor showcases rusticated quoins. The building is topped with a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course above. It has coped end stacks and an off-centre ridge stack, with a slate roof and stone ridge.
