Kilmorie, 6 Institution Road, Elgin

Kilmorie is an asymmetrical two-storey house built in the earlier to mid-19th century, located at 6 Institution Road in Elgin. The house features a two-bay frontage facing Institution Road to the north and a three-bay L-plan to the west, with a square porch at the re-entrant. The exterior is finished with tooled ashlar on the north and west sides, complemented by tooled ashlar dressings, while the flanks are made of rubble. The entrance to the porch has a moulded round-headed design and is topped with a single octagonal decorated finial. Some first-floor windows are positioned just above the wallhead and feature finialled gablets. There is a canted bay window on the south gable that extends to the first floor, with two and four-pane sashes, and lying-pane glazing remains on the north and west elevations. The house has a renewed ridge stack and a slate roof. Additionally, there is a gighouse with its original door facing Institution Road, although the opening has been enlarged to the west. The property is enclosed by coped rubble garden walls.
