Description
2A Station Road in Keith is a house built between 1810 and 1820. It is a two-storey, five-bay structure facing south, featuring a slightly advanced and pedimented central bay. To the west, there is a slightly set back and lower two-storey, four-bay range. The exterior is finished with harled walls and has tooled and polished ashlar dressings and margins. The rear of the building has been modernized with harling and various additions.
The main entrance is centrally located and includes a corniced doorpiece supported by a pair of Roman Doric columns in antis, leading to a recessed doorway with a radial fanlight. There is another corniced entrance at the center of the east return gable, and a plain doorway under a glazed oculus on the west return gable. A continuous bandcourse runs between the ground and first floors, and the windows in the west block feature 12-pane glazing with aprons on the first-floor windows. The building has a cavetto eaves cornice and a ball finial on the pediment. It has paired ridge stacks and a piended slate roof on the main block, while the west range has a gabled slate roof.
At the rear, there are two modern projecting stairwells with concrete tile roofs and modern glazing on the rear windows.
Additionally, there is a single-storey, three-bay rubble wing at 2 and 2A Station Road facing Station Road. This wing has a harled rear with an entrance and a piended dormer breaking the wallhead, along with 2-pane glazing and a ridge stack. It also features a piended slate roof.
Inside the building, little of interest remains.
