Description
Carron House is a single storey and attic house built between 1830 and 1840. It features a regular five-bay main elevation facing west, with a south-facing wing at the rear. The structure is constructed of rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings and margins. The central door is located in a projecting gabled two-storey porch, which has a moulded doorpiece and a small hoodmoulded two-light window above.
On either side of the porch are later flanking projecting canted windows with crenellated wallheads, and there are narrow windows in the outer bays. The glazing is varied throughout. The house is topped with coped octagonal ridge stacks and shaped apex finials, and it has slate roofs. There is a small modern flat-roofed dormer on the main frontage, along with three similar dormers on the south aspect of the later rear wing.
