4 Imperial Cottages, Imperial Distillery, Carron

These are a group of four cottages, built around 1900 by Charles Doig, facing south. They form a terrace of five pairs of single-story and attic cottages, each with two bays. Each pair has a secondary entrance in the outer bay. The cottages were constructed using pinned mixed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. They have piended roofs, sloping gently over the side elevations, with the main entrance located in the centre of the return walls, breaking through the wallhead under a small gable containing a double-leaf plank door. The windows are 4-pane sashes. Dormers, possibly added slightly later, are present at the front and back. Two coped stacks rise through the roof, one on the north side and one on the south side, flanking a short ridge. The roofs are slate with projecting eaves.

These cottages were built to accommodate workers at the Imperial Distillery, which was established in 1897. They appear on the Ordnance Survey map of 1903.
