Description

Maiden Bridge, built in the later 15th century, is a single span, arched bridge that crosses the River South Esk. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a ribbed underside. The bridge includes hoodmoulds, buttresses, and a coped parapet, which has likely been rebuilt. The road surface is made of cobbles and gravel. There is a narrow slit opening with a stone cill in the northeast buttress, as well as a doorway in the southeast parapet wall.
