Description

These are a pair of late 18th century gatepiers that were relocated from their original site associated with the now-demolished Woodburn House. They were likely designed by Robert Adam around 1792. The gatepiers are made of square-plan cream sandstone ashlar and feature short plinths that are set into the pavement. Each pier has a filleted neck beneath a broad cornice, topped with an ashlar urn finial on an ashlar plinth. The urn is fluted below and has a masonry flame-motif finial.
