Description
Lealholm Bridge is a bridge over the River Esk, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed tooled sandstone with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a single deep segmental arch made up of voussoirs and an arch ring. There is a band at the level of the parapet that is broken forward around the ashlar buttresses. At both the south end and the north-east abutments, the parapet is splayed out. The coping of the shallow sloped parapet is simple. The north-west parapet has been replaced by 20th-century railing supported by stone piers. On the south-west abutment, there is an inlaid lead figure with the inscription "YNR No. 388," which is also found on an attached iron plate.
