Description

The farm building located to the east of Horse House Farmhouse is a barn or byre with a loft above, dating from the late 18th century. Attached to the west wall is a drinking fountain that was added in 1904. The building is constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone, while the drinking fountain is made of rockfaced stone. It features a pantiled roof with stone copings and kneelers, and is 1½ storeys high with four bays. The structure includes boarded doors, hit-and-miss windows, and small vent slits. A modern window has replaced the loft door at the west end, and the roof has a moderate pitch with square kneelers.

The drinking fountain is set in an arched niche on the west return, featuring large voussoirs and a smooth keystone that displays the date and initials F.L. An iron standpipe with a maker's mark from Ham, Baker & Co, Westminster, is also present.
