Description
Prospect House is a mid-19th century house built of coursed tooled sandstone, standing on a high rusticated basement plinth. It features a Welsh slate roof with stone copings, kneelers, and stacks. The house has two storeys and a basement, arranged in three symmetrical bays. A tall flight of steps leads to a central half-glazed door, which has been replaced, and is framed by a stone surround with pilasters, a panelled frieze, and a pediment. The house has sash windows with vertical bars set in moulded reveals; the windows flanking the door have panelled pilasters, a cornice, and a pediment, while those above are in panelled surrounds. The basement windows are similar but have plain reveals. The building features V-jointed quoins, a flat frieze, and a moulded eaves cornice. The low-pitched hipped roof is topped with tall banded and corniced end stacks. At the rear, there is a domestic wing of two storeys that is similar in style but plainer.
