Description
Rustic Bridge 5 at Arniston House is an early 19th-century single span bridge that features a segmental arch over the River South Esk, located south of Shank Garden. The bridge is constructed from pink sandstone rubble and has a rubble-coped parapet. The polished arch-ring is flanked by droved pilasters that include impost detail, and there are splayed wing walls. On the exterior wall of the west parapet, there is a tooled panel with a Latin inscription, while the east parapet is partly fallen down.
