21-22 Ashton Road, Gourock

21-22 Ashton Road in Gourock is an earlier to mid-19th century, two-storey and attic, three-bay symmetrical flatted villa. The front is made of yellow sandstone ashlar, while the rear and sides are harled. It features a base course, broad angle pilasters, an eaves cornice with a blocking course, and raised margins around the windows, which have rounded reveals. The ground floor windows are corniced with bracketted eaves.

On the north (front) elevation, there is a central doorway flanked by Ionic pilasters, with a cornice and blocking course above that bears a tablet. The entrance consists of a two-leaf panelled door, a four-pane fanlight, and an inner door with an etched glass panel. There is a single window at the first floor and in the outer bays. A large modern box dormer is present.

The south (rear) elevation has rubble-built stairs providing access to the first floor flats, with panelled doors and three-pane fanlights, and single windows in the flanking bays. Modern box dormers are also found here.

Both the east and west elevations are gabled with single windows in the centre.

The front features timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, while the rear has mostly replacement windows. The roof is slate, with gablehead stacks on the east and west sides. The interior was not seen in 1993.
